In 21 days I will be 21.

That means I will no longer have my parents call my doctor to make an appointment for me. I will do it myself, without stuttering or tripping over my words.

I won’t need a GPS to give me directions to the same movie theater I’ve been going to for the past three months. I’ll have memorized the street names and I won’t get lost.

My friends can make plans with me and I will show up on time. Maybe even five minutes early.

People will look at me and see a confident young woman who has her life together. As I walk down the street, guys will turn their heads and think Wow, I would like to bring her home to meet my mother.

I might even stop having ridiculous fantasies. I will be realistic.

Employees at clothing stores won’t be able to get me to buy impulsively anymore because I will be a responsible adult!

I will let go of the past and accept the things that I cannot change. I will forgive, love, and embrace the unknown.

In 21 days I will be 21.

In 21 days, I won’t miss you anymore.

you fall in love with the little things about someone, like the sound of their laughter and the way their smile forms.
